Be Your Own Hero…..

Okay, this will be the sixth attempt to take a trip to Spain to walk the Camino Frances. I planned this in 2015 following my Omidyar Independent Learning Excursion to China/Japan. I decided then that every 5 years, I would take an introspective journey to refresh my perspective and replenish my soul.

I scheduled this trip for March 2020. I had double pneumonia then, so I postponed it 3 months to June 2020. Then Covid hit. I rescheduled 3 months later – surely Covid would be over by October 2020? No? What about March 2021? Surely June 2021….

Now I sit days away from actually leaving on my much awaited Camino and bam. Monday June 6th, 10 days before departure, I actually get covid. Are you kidding me?? Surely I would have to postpone again….

Luckily, the combo of 4x vax, a dose of Paxlovid and I am totally fine. We will see if my stamina is impacted, but I have decided to go for it. The worst thing that happens is I am unable to walk a few of the first days, but I will be on my Camino. I think that after all the attempts to go on this journey, one final trial is just part of it.

So, 3 days from now, I depart. I am excited, a bit nervous, but mostly excited. More later….
